Setting The Foundation For Optimal Fat Loss

When starting your weight loss journey it's important to optimise your body functions. Following these few suggestions will aid in healthy weight loss and improve health markers overall.

Essential Fatty Acids

Sweet cravings are a likely indicator of a lack of EPA. Food sources of EPA include fatty fish such as salmon, tuna & herring. Vegans & vegetarians can supplement with algae-derived omega supplements.

Amino Acids

Sweet cravings can also be linked to a lack of essential amino acids. Glutamine supplementation may be effective in keeping sweet cravings under control. Be sure to consume adequate essential amino acids through a balanced diet.

Iodine

Iodine is essential for healthy thyroid functioning. Consume seaweed, small amounts of iodised salt or consider supplementation.

Selenium

Like iodine, selenium is needed for thyroid function. 1-2 Brazil nuts a day is all that's needed.

Fermented Foods

Fermented foods such as kimchi and sauerkraut aid in the diversification of good gut bacteria.

Prebiotics

Without a consistent supply of prebiotics your good gut bacteria cannot survive. All plant foods are sources of prebiotics including all fruits, vegetables, grains, beans, nuts & seeds.

Sleep

Quality sleep is essential for hormone production, decreasing oxidative stress, reducing food cravings and improving food choice. Aim for at least 7 hrs per night.
