By dedicating a few hours each week to plan, prepare, and pack meals in advance, you unlock a treasure trove of benefits. Not only does meal prep save you valuable time and money, but it also helps you stay on track with your health and fitness goals. While meal prep can be a daunting task for some, these 4 products can significantly cut down on your time and effort needed to make delicious, nutritious meals.

1. Air-Fryer Oven

Air fryers have gained significant popularity in recent years and for good reason. These countertop kitchen appliances cook food in half the time of a conventional oven and often improve the taste and texture of food, too. They’re versatile, energy efficient and easy to keep clean.

I use the Kitchen Couture 25L Air Fryer Oven. Its multilevel trays mean you can cook more at the same time, compared to a traditional air-fryer, saving you time and money in energy expenses. It’s by far my most valuable kitchen appliance. I use it daily to cook or reheat my meal prepped meals.

2. Pressure Cooker

Pressure cookers not only save a huge amount of time but can also save you money. For example, if beans and legumes are a staple part of your diet (and I hope they are for their amazing nutritional profile) it will save you money to batch cook them from dried, rather than purchasing canned beans. While the savings may seem small they compound over time!

They’re also versatile as you can cook a wide range of foods in them and can even slow-cook your favourite meals. Just set and forget!

A few good options are the Phillips All-in-One Multi Cooker, Russell Hobbs 11-in-1 Digital Multicooker, Breville The Fast Slow Cooker and the Instant Pot 9-in-1 Duo Plus 8L Electric Pressure Cooker.

3. Durable Pots & Pans

As I move into more of a frugal lifestyle I’ve come across the saying “buy once, cry once” multiple times. Basically, this implies it’s better to spend on quality goods that will last longer and save you money in the long run from not having to constantly replace them.

This is why I use a set of durable stainless steel pots & pans. If I take proper care of them they’re likely to last me forever and their range of sizes means I can cook multiple things at once.

You can choose your set depending on your personal needs, but some of my favourites are the Cook N Home 8-Piece Stainless Steel Pots and Pans Set, KitchenAid 5-Ply Clad Stainless Steel Cookware Pots and Pans Set, or if colour is more your thing - the GreenLife Artisan Healthy Ceramic Nonstick 12 Piece Cookware Pots and Pans Set available in pink, turquoise and yellow.

4. Containers

Quality containers are a staple to meal prepping. After all, where are you going to store all the food you just spent hours preparing?

I use the Sistema 14 Piece Leakproof Containers but some other options are the Igluu Bamboo & Glass Food Storage Containers, Feshory Airtight Food Storage Container Set or the Rubbermaid Brilliance BPA Free Food Storage Containers.

Whether you prepare meals or just ingredients to mix and match, either of these sets are great options.
