Recovering From The Post-Viral Blues

Long after a virus has cleared you may be still feeling its effects lingering on for weeks or maybe even months. This could be due to the virus remaining latent within your body or it could have triggered an increase in inflammation.

Common symptoms include fatigue, insomnia, brain fog, dry skin, anxiety, muscle pain and simply not feeling like your normal self.

Recovery from post-viral syndrome varies from person to person so its essential to prioritise your rest and wellbeing at this time. Treatment primarily involves enhancing your immune and nervous systems to increase vitality and finally kick it to the curb.

Dietary & Lifestyle Tips

  • Increase your intake of fresh fruits and vegetables

  • Consume dark leafy veg daily. E.g. kale, rocket, cabbage

  • Limit or eliminate processed foods, refined sugars and alcohol

  • Stay hydrated with at least 8 cups of water per day

  • Get at least 7 hours of sleep per night to allow the body to rest and restore

  • Manage stress levels with calming activities such as yoga, meditation, walking or journalling

  • Exercise regularly to encourage detoxification and strengthen the immune system

  • Spend at least 10-30 minutes outside to increase Vitamin D

If you’re struggling with the post-viral blues, make an appointment. Together, we can explore your concerns in a safe and confidential manner to formulate a treatment plan tailored specifically to you.
